Recap of the 2023 BDR New Mexico Adventure Ride - April 20-23, 2023. The 8th Annual BDR Fundraiser Ride brought together over 95 adventure riders from across the country at Elephant Butte Lake RV Resort in New Mexico (https://www.elephantbuttelakervresort.com/). This incredible event united BDR supporters, Ambassadors, and industry professionals for an unforgettable weekend of BDR-style riding, enlightening presentations, and meaningful conversations about the important work and future plans of the BDR organization. While the location varies each year, the spirit of fun and camaraderie among attendees never wavers. This collective energy, shared interests, and commitment to the BDR cause fuel powerful discussions that shape the organization’s direction. Days were filled with exhilarating rides through desert and mountain terrain, while afternoons offered the opportunity to explore the charming attractions of the Elephant Butte Lake and the town of Truth Or Consequences, NM. However, the true magic unfolded during dinner, where passionate conversations about fundraising, strategy, and the future of the BDR took place, accompanied by laughter and good times. We cherished meeting new friends, connecting with faithful supporters, and enjoying the ideal venue, cooperative weather, and exceptional routes crafted by dedicated local volunteers. It reminded us why the NMBDR (https://ridebdr.com/nmbdr/) is such a special route. Many thanks to our local volunteers for amazing tracks to ride, and our key note speakers Russ Ehnes and Lauren Trantham for their inspirational presentations, personal stories, and invaluable tips on self growth and leadership. About Backcountry Discovery Routes: Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is a non-profit organization that creates off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. We have introduced a new route with free GPS tracks for the community every year since 2010. Routes can be downloaded from our website at www.ridebdr.com Our work includes rider education, safety campaigns and promoting responsible travel for motorcyclists traveling in the backcountry. Our volunteer-powered organization works with agencies and land managers to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling. Each route generates new tourism that delivers sustainable economic relief to less-advantaged rural communities. This creates local stakeholders who will help fight to keep access for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles in these incredible backcountry areas.
