This time, I walked around the Fureai-Dori shopping street in Otobe Town, Hokkaido, Japan.
Otobe Town is a port town with a population of approximately 3,300 people facing the Sea of Japan in southwestern Hokkaido.
It takes about 4 hours by car from Sapporo and about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Hakodate.
The shopping street is located on Fureai-Dori street between the port and National Route 229.
In the video, the port is on the left and the national highway is on the right.
The roads and townscape were improved in 2011, and the building designs have been unified to recreate the townscape of the past, similar to Matsumae Town and Esashi Town.
However, there are unfortunately few shops. Also, I couldn't really tell if it was a store or a residence unless I went to the front.
During festivals, this place becomes a pedestrian paradise and seems to be crowded with townspeople, but I felt it was a little difficult for tourists.
There is a monument to the site of the landing of the Hakodate war government army nearby, and we hope that a store will be built that takes advantage of the sea, port, and historical sites.
