國立臺灣戲曲學院是我國教育史上第一所12年一貫制之戲曲人才養成學府，以培育傳統藝術人才、弘揚傳統戲曲文化為宗旨。本校於95年8月1日奉教育部核定由臺灣戲曲專科學校改制為臺灣戲曲學院，校舍分內湖與木柵兩校區，設置有京劇學系、戲曲音樂學系、歌仔戲學系、民俗技藝學系、劇場藝術學系、客家戲學系等6系(科)。
目前招生方式，京劇與民俗技藝學生自國小五年級入學(12年一貫)；歌仔、戲曲音樂與客家戲學生自國中一年級入學(10年一貫)；劇場藝術學生自高中一年級入學(7年一貫)，歷經國小兩年、國中三年、高中三年、學院四年之養成教育。而以上學制國小至高職階段採直升方式為之（但仍須通過升部評鑑）；另大學部則須通過甄選考試。高中以下學生享有公費待遇，大學部學生自費，但校方提供有優渥的獎助學金。
本校施行全人藝術教育，以培養具人文素養、專業技能與學術理論並重，富創作性之表演藝術人才為目標，期盼學生能肩負起傳承與發揚傳統表演藝術之使命。本校在人才養成中，強調學生傳統表演藝術、專業學能與品德涵養均衡發展，期能培育全方位之傳統表演藝術家。
A Brief Introduction to National Taiwan College of Performing Arts
National Taiwan College of Performing Arts (NTCPA) is the first educational institute in Taiwan to provide a 12-year coherent curriculum for traditional opera training. There are six departments including the department of Jing Ju, Acrobatics, Xi Qu Music, Taiwanese Opera, Theatre Arts, and Hakka Opera. To promote performing art to the public, the school founded three professional performing troupes, which are the Jing Ju troupe, the acrobatics troupe, and the youth traditional opera troupe.
With a long history of excellence and accomplishment, the school is devoted to the goal of preserving the traditional opera heritage and creating innovation culturally. The school also offers students exchange programs in order to elevate the artistic perspective and look forward to the further step onto the stage of international art communities.
