特雷門琴為世界上最早的電子樂器之一，利用琴身上面所裝設的兩根天線 四周的弱電磁場和人體靜電互動做出不同的聲調和音量。一個是長直金屬桿，一個是環狀的水平金屬圈，垂直桿控制音頻率高低，水平環狀圈控制音量大小。原理是利用手與天線構造的距離遠近，改變其電容之大小，而影響其振盪頻率。
