In a recent video from MACkiteboarding, Tucker and Mr. Jeff dive deep into the updates for the 2025 KT Ginxu Super K, a mid-length "midi" wing foil board that builds on the popularity of its 2024 predecessor but arrives with some significant changes. While it shares the Super K name, the 2025 version is essentially a new board, featuring a completely different shape, updated dimensions, and revised construction.
One of the major changes is the board’s shorter length and narrower width. The 70-liter model, for example, has been reduced from 5'10" to 5'8" and slimmed down by three inches in width, making it feel noticeably smaller underfoot. The step-bottom design has been removed entirely, resulting in a thicker overall profile. This change not only alters the board's stability but also makes it Foil Drive compatible without modification, which is a key benefit for many riders.
According to Jeff, this redesign results in less stability when getting up from the knees compared to the 2024 model, despite the volume being the same. The thinner outline, narrower width, and higher center of gravity due to added thickness make the board feel less forgiving, particularly for intermediate users. However, once up on foil, the board feels fast, efficient, and well-balanced, with the lightweight construction allowing it to practically disappear beneath the rider.
Tucker explains that with this year's design, sizing strategy needs to shift. While the 2024 Super K allowed riders to size down confidently thanks to its forgiving outline, the 2025 version demands more precision. Riders looking for light wind performance or easier stability are encouraged to size up—often 10 to 20 liters above their weight in kilograms. Advanced riders chasing maximum maneuverability and wave performance can size down but should be aware that they’re trading off stability.
Performance-wise, the new board excels in speed and responsiveness, particularly when matched with smaller foils in light wind or surfy conditions. The updated rocker line—with a low entry, double concave through the center, and slight tail kick—contributes to the board’s ability to get up on foil quickly. KT’s surfboard shaping roots show through in the seamless blending of curves, which leads to smooth acceleration and efficient gliding.
Another standout feature is KT’s new dual-density construction. The inner lightweight foam core is surrounded by a higher-density outer shell, making the board stronger, more resilient to dings, and easier to repair. This new process also results in less waste during production and better shape consistency. Combined with the new marbled finish—which eliminates the need for heavy paint—the board is approximately a pound lighter than its predecessor.
Jeff notes that the 2025 Super K is not ideal for beginners or those progressing into intermediate territory. It's best suited for skilled riders who can manage the reduced width and increased thickness. For those interested in one-board-quiver versatility, especially for winging, sizing up to an 80 or 90-liter version may be the sweet spot. The board’s longer tracks are well-placed to accommodate a wide range of foil brands and user preferences, further enhancing its versatility.
Finally, it’s worth noting that two carbon versions are available: the regular carbon version and the Pro Carbon version, the latter being even lighter, stiffer, and potentially more durable—an excellent option for performance-driven riders with the budget to match.
In short, the 2025 KT Ginxu Super K is a bold evolution of last year’s board—faster, lighter, and more advanced, but also more demanding. Riders familiar with the 2024 model should be mindful that this is not a direct replacement, and proper sizing and expectations are key to getting the most out of it.
