දුසේරා’ (dussehra) නමින් ඉන්දියානුවන් හදුන්වන්නේ රාවණ රජතුමාගේ පිළිරුවක් ගිනිතබා විනාශ කිරීමයි. මේක වාර්ෂිකව ඉන්දියාවේ පවත්වන උත්සවයක්.මහ පොළව මත ලංකා සිතියම සකස්කොට ඒ මත මහා රාවණයන්ගේ විශාල පිළිරුවක් සවි කරනු ලබයි. ඒ අසලින්ම රාවණගේ සොහොයුරු කුම්භකර්ණ සහ රාවණ පුත් ඉන්ද්‍රජිත් හෙවත් මේඝනාදයන්ගේද පිළිරූ ඉදිකරනු ලබයි. ඉන්පසු සෙරෙප්පුවලින් තැනූ මල්මාල එම පිළිරූවලට පළඳවයි. අනතුරුව ඒවාට ඊතලවලින් විද පුළුස්සා දමයි. අනතුරුව ඉන්ද නොනැවතී කාන්තාවන් විසින් සෙරෙප්පු සහ පොල්වලින් පහර දෙමින් කෙළ ගසනු ලබයි. පිළිම ගිනිගෙන දැවී යන තෙක් ‘දුෂ්ට රාවණා මැරියන්’ සහ ‘දුෂ්ට රාවණාට නැගිටින්නට බැරිවෙයන්’ යන අරුත් ඇති වැකි කියමින් බොහෝ වේලාවක් සාප කරනු ලබයි. ලංකාපුරය යනු අලංකාර පුරය යන අර්ථය ලබාදෙන බව අහුබුදු සූරීහු දක්වති. කාශ්මීරයට (අහස්මිහිර) ගිය කුවේරද එහිගොඩනගා ගත්තේ අලකාපුරයයි. එයද ලංකාපුරයට සමානවන්නට ඇත. සියලුම යස ඉසුරින් පිරි නගරයක් සංස්කෘත හා සිංහල සාහිත්‍යයේ හඳුන්වන්නේ කුවේරගේ අලකාපුරයට සමාන කරමිනි. ඉතිහාස පොතින් අප ඉගෙනෙගන ඇත්තේ පෞරරාජ්‍යයන් බිහිවූයේ ග‍්‍රීසියේ බවය. ලංකාවට එහි ගෞරවය ලබාදීමට ඉංග‍්‍රීසි ඉතිහාසඥයෝ අකමැති වූහ. වේලාපුර, රත්නපුර, අනුරාජපුර, විජිතපුර, සෝමපුර, යක්පුර, මහින්දපුර අනෙකුත් පුරයන්ය
