Since then, the route has gained mega-popularity. A lot of people wrote to me in PM or in the comments about the desire to travel to these places, of course, they didn’t write even more, but immediately went. Some of them partly postponed the trip for later, some carried out the plan, but not for everyone who went along this route everything ended happily.
Although I warned in my article that not everything is smooth, the road is really difficult and has many pitfalls that are invisible at first glance at photos and videos, but people did not believe and went there, relying on their strength and patency of the car. Often we drove in the same car, which cannot be done categorically, someone certainly drove through, and someone broke down. And if the breakdown of the car is not so noticeable in the group, friends will always come to the rescue, help to fix it on the spot or get to the nearest workshop, then in case of a trip on one SUV all this will not work. Therefore, I will not take into account those cars that break down on the route as part of the convoy, since it is rather difficult to track them, but during this season I heard a minimum of 5 protracted evacuations of SUVs that lasted from 2 to 6 days. It was Niva, UAZ Patriot, Hover, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Mitsubishi Pajero 2 (by the way, they transported with it the longest, about 6 days). All this time, a broken car stood on a steep slope, and its owners tried by any means to pull it into civilization. Several SUVs from the Real Pokatushniki group, which were also damaged during the evacuation process, were engaged in its extraction, a dozen cables and a variety of rigging were collected, a lot of time and effort was spent. Even the winches mounted on the cars did not help, as a result, Pajero 2 could only be obtained with the help of the GAZ-66.
Therefore, I urge everyone to travel this route, do not hit the road in one car, there is no cellular connection, having broken down in the mountains you will have to spend a huge amount of time looking for help and the evacuation of your SUV can take a week. Go on the road only in a group of fully functional cars, do not rely on a miracle, according to the law of meanness, everything will break on the road, even that which you did not suspect. Be sure to bring along a spare wheel, a jack, a jerk cable, jackets, an electric pump, a shovel, warm clothes, spare socks and shoes, as well as a supply of food and a walkie-talkie for all participants in the trip. All this can be useful to you in case of unforeseen situations.
One of the cases in which I was present in person was the rescue of Hover. On Friday, he and his friends drove to the Kanzhol plateau in the same car, admired the views of the Caucasus Mountains and decided to go down the serpentine in order to drive as far as possible to Dzhila-Su. At first everything went well, but then when crossing the mud areas, Hover got stuck. The car was pushed through the efforts of passengers, but the fan on the radiator suddenly broke. The crew, after waiting for the antifreeze to cool, tried to go back, but soon Hover began to boil again, this was repeated several times. There was no cellular connection, the owner of the car had to walk for several kilometers, climbing along the serpentine road to the Kanzhol plateau in order to call the rescuers of the Ministry of Emergencies from there. After a while they arrived, but they took only people, they refused to drag Hover into a long rocky climb, the car itself could not go. as a result, he was thrown into the mountains indefinitely. There was only one option, ask for help and repair the car in place. And it just so happened that on Sunday our group “Real Pokatushki” had a trip planned for this route, among us was a professional auto electrician who agreed to repair a broken car. So the owner of Hover was just incredibly lucky, the car stayed in the mountains for less than 2 days, waiting for us to come to the rescue.
