Rapidgate - Will it effect me on a 233 mile road trip?
Following my earlier review of the 2018 40kwh Nissan Leaf I was left with one unanswered question. Will Rapidgate effect me?
I was fortunate enought to have the new Leaf on loan for 3 days and a road trip planned to see what would happen.
It was a warm autumn day in the UK (about 18 degrees Celsius) and I drove in the same way I would an ICE car. I didn't do anything to conserve battery life or keep the temperature down. I need a car that I can treat like my petrol car with a few quick charging stops. See how I got on!
N.B. Please view this video as it was intended. These are my own personal experiences and findings based on my driving habits and style. I know I could have driven it slower and maintained the battery temperature thus resulting in quicker charging times. I am also aware of the feelings around Nissan not employing active thermal management on this battery pack. My aim was to see if it would effect me on the journey I do in the climate I live in. If your experiences are different please feel free to inform others but I do now expect the comments section to turn into an area for abuse. Please keep it civil!
