As the former capital and oldest city in Taiwan, Tainan has been a center of culture and history for hundreds of years. You can’t experience Taiwanese culture without a beautiful view to start the day. The Erliao Pavilion is known as the best sunrise in Tainan, so what a perfect place to embark from on a whirlwind trip. Next up is the first culinary delight of the day, before a visit to Taiwan’s oldest Confucian temple. Discover a sweet street treat, before experiencing the unique style of historical qipao dresses in a special parlor that will transport you back in time. Take a stroll through time on historic Shennong Street and soak in the atmosphere amongst the well-preserved buildings. Tainan’s Ten Drum Culture Village has turned an old sugar factory into a playground full of culture and excitement for everyone. Learn how to play a traditional drum, catch a performance, and enjoy some high-octane rides all in one place. Round out the day in Yanshui, another part of Tainan full of rich culture, traditional foods, and historic buildings and home to Yuejin Harbor Lantern Festival. For a very special nightcap, visit the Midnight Cafe on Yanping Street, and enjoy some drinks in a retro setting.
