We've been using these 3 cheap off grid water systems for years on our homestead: Ram pump, rain water with first flush diverter, and simple pond catchment. Water wells are very expensive, and they aren't a guarantee of quantity or quality of water either. These methods are easy, cheap and can work in most climates.
