Three steam trains in one day - even at Carlisle, that's a rare occurrence - one not be missed.
70000 Britannia is due to bring The Lakelander in from Leicester, closely followed by 34067 Tangmere with the Settle and Carlisle Steam Special from Liverpool. Originally intended for the Cumbrian Coast line, this has had to be rerouted because of the derailment and track collapse at Grange-Over-Sands.
A train of Central-Door-Locking fitted coaches is heading for Crianlarich en-route to Fort William to enable West Coast Railways to run a daily Jacobite service while their unfitted Mark ! coaches are banned by the Office for Rail and Road. This is expected to be Black Five hauled.
Sadly, the weather forecast for the day is awful - fierce winds (no drone today!) and heavy rain, so the day will have to be spent under the station roof.
To add to the fun, I'm without a car - so an early bus into town and an expensive taxi back home at the end of the day. What we do for our art!
