Create a verbal routine with this and then WAIT before saying the last word to see if they will fill in the blank!) #2) CREATE an END to ALL activities! If something goes IN, it must come OUT to END the activity! Clean up to create an END or have the little people / animals / mini objects go IN a bin, cup, bag, box, WHATEVER you have! Create a play routine with a clear and defined END to help motivate and encourage a child to begin! Set a visual timer, if needed! #3) Use a child's INTERESTS and STRENGTHS to lead the session! THEN expand! Use INTRINSIC MOTIVATION to determine WHAT we play with that day! JOIN IN on their activity by EXPANDING, MODELING LANGUAGE, and SHOWING THEM what to do with the objects - to BUILD off of what they want to do! (TAKE TURNS!) Provide OPTIONS to decrease echolalia and follow through on the child's response / request (do what they chose / say) USE MUSIC!!!!!!! Some children are GESTALT LANGUAGE LEARNERS meaning that they learn language in CHUNKS (phrases) instead of at the word / symbol level. Music is a GREAT way to target joint attention, increasing attention span, following directions, gross motor, fine motor, receptive language, turn taking, imitating gestures/words, completing verbal routines, making request, YOU NAME IT! // Here are my FAVORITE songs to use in therapy: Happy and You Know It Hokey Pokey Ring Around the Rosey Freeze Dance Head, Shoulders, Knees Toes Wheels On the Bus Ants Go Marching Itsy Bitsy Spider __ 11 Prelinguistic Skills Chart: https://teachmetotalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/CHART-of-11-Skills-Toddlers-Master-Before-Words-Emerge-from-Laura-Mize-and-teachmetotalk.com_.pdf //Featured in this video: Speech Tree Minis! https://www.speechtreeco.com/collections/all-products Play Mat: https://amzn.to/37Hu7FH ** Designate a PLAY AREA with a play mat (must have) Little People Bus: https://amzn.to/2XnqToV Car Track: https://amzn.to/37FanTa Tunnel: https://amzn.to/3xLC6fD Silicone Baking Cups: https://amzn.to/3yOvgaz Bilibo Seat: https://amzn.to/37K1uaQ Nuerodiversity: https://amzn.to/37J1eZS Melissa and Doug Pull Back Cars: https://amzn.to/2VOkm5Y Gorilla Blocks: https://amzn.to/37EG2UV https://www.amazon.com/shop/speedyspeech Recommended Next Videos: DIY Sensory Bin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkd4gvHj3Kc How to PLAY: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yINmvCIw-YM Activities for SENSORY SEEKERS: https://youtu.be/p8iBzgap29o __ 🔸LANGUAGE PLAYLIST: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNL4Ls5aZkt-F2hsdSZje_QVT2pAA0uOV 🔷Check out this ARTICULATION PLAYLIST: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNL4Ls5aZkt91WHMIfL2a9uaAhp62Mpsm 🟢 AUTISM RESOURCE VIDS: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNL4Ls5aZkt8jxvcJ7MmkoftCJWlzgUhB 🔺TOP TIPS VIDEOS: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNL4Ls5aZkt965fB9jRa8E14w--_VVZtV __ 10/21: ATTN: since filming this video I have had the opportunity to learn from autistic adults that many AA prefer IDENTITY-first language in order to respect the challenges & strengths related to autism. With that being said, I respect the Individual differences In all neurodiverse communities and would like to support the autistic community In any way I can. __ DISCLAIMER: Links included in this description might be affiliate links.
