UPDATE: I thought it looked funny, but my original source was wrong. The axles are GM 10 bolt not DANA 44.
Others have mentioned that controlling the 1-2 harsh shift is by anticipating the shift point and letting off the gas while manually shifting up. This would work, but be sure to use the stock GM Fan clutch. I had an aftermarket severe duty and it sucked up so much horsepower it made it difficult to anticipate the shift points.
