The speakers came together in an interactive discussion with two goals in mind: to integrate the key themes of the day's talks on the perils of 1942 and to highlight points of contemporary relevance of these events. Some major themes that emerged include the uncertainty of the ultimate outcome of the war at the end of 1942, the global nature of both the war and U.S. interests, and fluidity and complexity of America's response to war, the challenges of leadership, and the way in which ordinary Americans proved their mettle. The in-person and online audience participation was very engaging.
Moderator: Richard B. Frank
Guest Speakers: Jonathan Parshall, John C. McManus, Katherine Sharp Landdeck, Craig L. Symonds
