3D printed RGB Lamp - Voronoi Style
Update: I added a home automation tutorial that makes this a smart lamp...after watching this video to see how it goes together, if you want it to respond to things please see: https://youtu.be/rSEiJLhP9IE
Update 2: Check THIS out from Razorwire...he built one of these at 50% and added a custom LED holder which provides a much more accurate representation along the sidewalls of the LEDs...definitely something to look into! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4803213
Today's project is a 3D printed Voronoi lamp, complete with RGB LEDs using the WLED Library. This was a 70 hour print, and absolutely filled the print bed! In this video I'll talk about Voronoi, some tips on successfully printing the model, how to get the RGB Leds into the model, and then how to upload the WLED firmware so that you can control it via a phone or web browser.
If you've followed me you know that I love any projects that combine electronics and 3D printing. I've printed a few that I want to show to give people ideas, and while I'm at it, I'll be able to show some geek tools like the ESP8266/Wemos D1 microcontroller...which is super powerful and fun. I'll also talk a bit about WS2812 LEDs (Adafruits Neopixels) and of course we're using a 3D printer...one of my favorite geek tools!
Thanks a ton for the support. Here's some of the links you'll need to create this project yourself.
