In 1975 Nicholas Nixon, a portrait photographer, took a simple photo of his wife and her three sisters. A year later, he asked them to stand in the same places in an attempt to recreate the photo. As he looked at the four women through his lens, an idea sprung into his mind—what if they did this every year? To his surprise, the sister agreed to let him take the same photo every year. What none of them predicted was that the project would go on to span 40 years and make people reassess everything they thought they knew about getting older. The last picture will leave you in tears!
