In this final episode, I ride out of Washington D.C. and set my sights on New York City, with the Atlantic Ocean waiting to officially mark the end of this unforgettable coast-to-coast journey. Having completed the Bike Nonstop route in D.C., I follow the Atlantic Coast route up past Baltimore and around Philadelphia, reflecting on the countless memories, challenges, and incredible people I’ve met along the way.
Throughout these last days, I reunite with Joe, who joined me on the C&O Canal trail, and meet up with Matt and Bryan, who generously invite me into their homes and with whom I share an evening of laughs and good company. Finally, I reach New York City—somewhere I didn’t expect to love as much as I did—and get to explore it with Bryan before the ride’s final leg to Coney Island where I dip my wheel in the Atlantic Ocean, mirroring how this journey began over 4,000 miles ago on the Pacific coast.
This ride wasn’t always easy; I had days of doubt and rough stretches that tested me, but I know I’ll look back on these tough moments with as much appreciation as the highs, seeing this journey in a deeper, more meaningful way. I’ve learned a lot, especially about how much I value the kindness and company of others I meet on the road. After 80 days and 4,344 miles, I’m excited to share this final chapter of the journey with you all. Thank you for coming along on this adventure—it wouldn’t have been the same without you.
