笠戸島の夕日岬付近に座礁しているコンクリート被曳航油槽船は、戦時中の鉄不足を補う目的に加え、安価で簡易な製造工程であることから昭和18年に呉海軍工廠にて建造された5隻の内の1隻とされています。
戦後湾内に係留されていましたが、昭和26年の台風により座礁後破断し船体の一部が現在の場所に打ち上げられたとの事です。
貴重な戦争遺跡がこのまま朽ち果て消滅する事の無いよう願います。

The concrete towed oil tanker stranded near Yuhi Misaki on Kasado Island was built at the Kure Navy Yard in 1944 to compensate for the iron shortage during the war, as well as because the manufacturing process was cheap and simple. It is said to be one of the five ships.
It was moored in the bay after the war, but after being stranded by a typhoon in 1952, it broke and part of the hull was washed ashore at its current location.
I hope that these precious war ruins will not rot and disappear like this.
