In January, I set out to fly to as many places in the Caribbean as possible, and after 12 days, 13 airlines, 24 flights, and over 10,000 miles, I landed back in Kansas City, Missouri after visiting 14 different countries & territories. Flight 9 Fun Fact – Not that it needs to be said anymore since it's in the title and the thumbnail, but yes... Saba is home to the world's shortest commercial airport runway at on 1,301 feet long. Yes, that 1 extra foot makes the difference. To put that into perspective, the USS Gerald R. Ford, which is the largest US aircraft carrier, has a deck length of 1,106 feet. Making Saba's runway only 200 feet longer than the largest aircraft carrier ever built. Also, because of the unique and challenging aspects that accompany landing on such s small runway, only a handful of pilots in the world are even allowed to land there. Landing at Saba requires pilots to go through special training and they must have a special endorsement on their license before they're allowed to land there.
