Ihwa Mural Village (이화 벽화마을), is one of Seoul's oldest neighborhoods. This village was designated for demolition but in 2006, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public art launched the campaign "Ihwa-dong Naksan Project" in an effort to revitalized the village, with artwork, paintings, drawings and murals of about 70 artists. It is a popular destination for both locals and international tourists for its murals and scenic setting.
