Welcome aboard Lufthansa flight 401, with non-stop service from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport to Frankfurt am Main International Airport! Today we will be flying on one of the last Boeing 747-400s still in commercial passenger service.
Even before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Boeing 747-400 was quickly shrinking with every tick of the clock. While most airlines that operated the Boeing 747 completely retired them as a result of COVID, Lufthansa was one of a small handful of airlines that chose not to do so. Wanting to fly on a Boeing 747 before they became a thing of the past, I decided to book this flight on the outbound leg of my Spring Break trip.
In my opinion, while I enjoyed the flight experience, the hard product is certainly deserving of an upgrade. Lufthansa's long-haul business class is certainly lagging behind virtually all of its competitors and I would only suggest flying them if your goal is to fly on a certain aircraft type with an impending future retirement.
