After having recently published the Paris-Est - Strasbourg route by the high-speed line (LGV), we'd like to take a look at the original railway line, known as line 1.
We travel aboard a Corail train, in which we will make this 502 km long journey at a commercial speed of 160 km/h aboard a B5uxh pilot car and pushed by a BB26000R.
As you will see, the line is no longer what it used to be, gone is the heavy traffic, the express trains and the famous trains. The LGV Est-Européenne has well and truly overshadowed it.
It nevertheless remains an essential link in the French rail network.
Having long belonged first to the Paris - Strasbourg railway then to the Compagnie de l'Est before being attached to the SNCF, it kept its name of Line 1 in the old nomenclature of the Eastern SNCF region.
We wish you a pleasant journey.
