Exploring Vilnius on Its Birthday
Vilnius Light Festival 2025: This year’s program features 21 light installations, with 10 created by local artists and 11 by international artists.
Vilnius celebrates its birthday on January 25, marking the day in 1323 when Grand Duke Gediminas sent a letter to the residents of Lübeck, Sund, Bremen, Magdeburg, Cologne, and other cities, expressing his willingness to embrace Christianity. This letter contained the first recorded mention of Vilnius, making January 25 officially recognized as the city’s birthday.
