While knitting can be relaxing and meditative, there's also a darker side that few people are truly aware of. Whether it's yarn hoarding or thinking you can beat the game by buying expensive tools, a lot of crafters don't even realize that these bad habits could potentially hurt their mental health. Worst of all, few people are actually aware how taxing knitting can be on your body. Over decades, they slowly build up repetitive strain injuries until it's too late. The lack of diversity and gatekeeping is also a major issue that keeps a lot of people out of the system, with no change in sight.
