Video Not Working? Fix It Now

見方が変われば、すべての人が職人である。 日々の暮らしの視点が変わるドキュメンタリー。 記事とお店の詳細情報はこちらからご覧ください: https://betterdays-stadium.com/lemon From a different point of view, everyone is a craftsman. This is a documentary that changes the perspective of everyday life. After crossing the Akinada Bridge (local Kawajiri, Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture), which has become famous for driving my car, and drive for about 40 minutes, the house of Yoshitaka Tagaya and Harue is on the small mountain of Teshima, an island surrounded by the beautiful sea. From the house, you can see the green Seto Inland Sea, and the killifish that Mr. Yoshitaka keeps are swimming comfortably while looking at the beautiful green sea. “I also like the view of the sea from our garden,” Mr. Yoshitaka said in Hiroshima dialect. On the day I interrupted the shoot, Haru-chan woke up at 5am and made breakfast for me. Homemade dishes such as inari sushi, simmered fish, fried chicken, and salads were lined up on the table. Haru-chan said she didn't do anything special, but it was so gorgeous and delicious. When I said, "It's so delicious, Haru-chan," he said, "It's embarrassing, stop it." While eating, I asked, "How long have you been a farmer?" "It's been over 50 years," said Haru-chan. Both Mr. Yoshitaka and Haru-chan are over 80 years old, but he still works and grows oranges, lemons and other fruits. I think it was the first time I saw someone over 80 years old and still working. After eating, Haru-chan got the car out of the garage under the house and drove it down the slope along the coast to the lemon field. It was raining a little, but the scenery was beautiful and the air was clear. There was a field for them in a place with a nice view overlooking the bridge connecting the islands. When I was filming the preparations, Haru-chan said with a laugh, "Do you also take pictures of places like this? You are embarrassing me now. Stop it please." It was hard to believe that the two were over 80 years old as they stepped steadily into the muddy field from the rain. The yellow color of the lemons in the field looked solid and strong, probably due to the light rain. Surrounded by lemons, the two began working. I'm going to harvest lemons with a good rhythm. And it's fast. If you look closely, you can see that the lemon branch is first cut with a little room to spare, and then the fruit and branch are cut again just in time. I asked Haru-chan why she cut it like that. I was told that if I didn't cut it twice, the scissors would damage the lemon. Mr. Yoshitaka told me that during the harvest season,They work from morning to evening. When I asked Mr. Yoshitaka, "Why do you keep working?", the answer came back, "This is how we live." The answer was simple and resounding. When I asked Haru-chan when she was the happiest when she grew lemons, she said, "I'm happiest when I grow big and beautiful lemons. If I find a lemon like that, I'll forget all my hardships." I still can't forget her smiling face when she said that. Weeding, fertilizing, and pruning until the lemons grow is a lot of work, and you can imagine how hard it is to be affected by the weather. Still, I am moved by Mr. Yoshitaka, Haru-chan, who continues to work. Finally he was taken to a place where lemons, oranges, etc. were stored and sorted. There, the two of us do everything from sorting to shipping. Finally, I asked him to walk with me because I wanted to take a picture of him returning from the work place. Haru-chan said embarrassedly, "come over here." When they went far, Mr. Yoshitaka said, "The rain has stopped," and turned the corner.
