Bitter Sweet 50,000 mi honest review of my 2016 60th anniversary Yamaha Super T. I bought this bike a little over 3 years ago from a much older gentleman and was the typical garage Queen with low miles. I'm sure it had never seen anything but pavement before I decided to do several thousand mile trip on mostly gravel... this bike has performed flawlessly and as you will hear I only had three small gripes about the bike all no big deal other than the elephant in the room, that it is top heavy and note the word h e a v y. Now, understand when I say off-road I am speaking of fire service roads, gravel, hard packed cow trails, but staying away from anything soft because this bike is over 600 lb, add gear, and my 240 lb self puts this bike at 900 lb so don't kid yourself and think that it's a dirt bike. Plus I'm not Charlie borman... The first thing I like the best about the bike is the looks and the fact it does not have a beak and does not look like everything else on the road. Second favorite thing is the shaft drive, extremely low maintenance but my past few bikes all were chain so that's not that big of a deal for me. Reliability. This is my number one concern of the bike that I chose and will be taking delivery of next week... praying it is just as reliable as this bike has been for a little over 3 years. Maintenance on this bike is very easy except for the air cleaner... takes me about 3 hours to do an oil change and air cleaner maintenance so not too bad. All service that I've had done by the dealer was nothing over the top expensive and parts for the bike are readily available. All day comfort riding, more power than all of my cruiser friends, much faster than all of my cruiser friends, can lug up twisties without downshifting but yet when you want to throttle up and take it to the rev limiter this bike is capable but please understand to me it's a little sluggish but I've had other friends ride this bike that said it scared them to death but again their cruiser guys. I pray my new bike will be reliable and put that big giant smile on my face every time I get on it like this bike does. The only reason I did not go back to a super T was there has been no major update on this bike since 2014 other than electronic suspension and heated grips. I have really been waiting to see what Indian was going to come up with since they've got three four years with the 1200 motor on the FTR and expected the motor group to build a fantastic ADV as an answer to the Pan America but unfortunately looks like we're waiting at least one more year. So like I've said a couple of times this is bittersweet because of the fact I love this bike And it has performed every task of asked of it. As for me & the majority of riders it could really be what we call a "unicorn" bike... And please exclude hardcore off-road riding as 90% of people that do ADV do not fit that category either... but this bike does twisties very well, gravel, back roads, and also has all-day cruising comfort, but when you want to take a different route it's capable or you want to follow along or sporty or riders it's got that capability too. Shaft drive will be the number one thing I will miss...... so for now thank you for 40,000 miles, 3 years of fun & never left me stranded anywhere. I Hope the next owner has as much fun on this bike as I have, it deserves a great home. There are plenty of great used Super T's on line with super low miles. these bikes sell between 8 and 10,000 all day long and will be a good choice for anyone wanting to get off of a big cruiser and dabble with gravel roads back roads with a super reliable machine. Hope you enjoyed my video. May God Bless you and always remember to Give thanks before you KSU and ask God for protection to and fro... Stay tuned for my NEW bike. After watching this video I realized right off the bat I called myself VP and realized oops nope I'm the President of my chapter here in TXK so wanted to clarify that.
