It's challenging to write good one-liner jokes. Studying legendary comedian, Steven Wright will put you in that mood to get creative.
In this video Jerry Corley collected 65 of Steven Wright's funniest one-liners for your comedic inspiration and to allow you to study one of the legends in comedy.
Steven Wright launched his stand-up comedy career in 1979 at Boston’s Comedy Connection, drawing inspiration from comedic legends like George Carlin and Woody Allen. His big break came in 1982 when Peter Lassally, executive producer of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, discovered him performing at the Ding Ho in Cambridge—a quirky spot Wright described as "half Chinese restaurant, half comedy club." Wright’s first appearance on The Tonight Show left such an impression on Johnny Carson and the audience that he was invited back just a week later, cementing his reputation as a master of deadpan, surreal one-liners.
