Today, we disassemble an old scanner to recover all the components and parts that can be reused for future projects, including the stepper motor (direct reuse!), the Cold Cathode Fluorescent (CCFL) light and it inverter (backlight lighting project), the quality optical lens (macro lens for smartphone photography), the mirrors (can be useful), the controller board and all its inputs/outputs ports (may end up recycling ports), the I/O interface board (needed a click button so have a few spares now), the CCD board and chip (probably not use that one), the small hardware (always useful those self-tapping screws for plastic assembly), the glass panel (with the plastic parts to make a slide viewer), the linear guides (beautiful rod that will serve nicely future power tools projects), the gears and wheels (always useful), toothed belt, various plastic parts...
