她从十五、六岁便跟随父亲学习这门手艺。三十多年来，她的身影穿梭于鱼寮之间，裁网、缝补、绑绳，手中的梭子与线在她指间翻飞，编织着渔网，也编织着自己的故事。她的坚韧与技艺，不仅证明了自己的实力，也为这座海岛的制网历史增添了一抹独特的色彩。
Net-making has long been a craft dominated by men. Every step—from cutting and weaving to stitching and finishing—requires considerable strength. Yet, on Pangkor Island, there is a rare and remarkable female net-maker: Teh Ban Lian.
She began learning the craft from her father at the young age of fifteen or sixteen. For over three decades, her presence has graced the fishing sheds, skillfully cutting, mending, and tying nets. With a shuttle in hand and threads dancing between her fingers, she weaves not only fishing nets but also the story of her life. Her resilience and mastery not only prove her own strength but also add a unique and unforgettable touch to the island’s net-making history.
