This study compiled the number of deaths in the United States for the year 2020, along with the leading causes of death, which were, in order: heart disease, cancer, COVID-19, accidental injuries, stroke, chronic lower respiratory diseases, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, influenza and pneumonia, kidney disease, and suicide, totaling 11 causes. Over the past five years, heart disease and cancer have consistently ranked first and second, respectively. In 2020, these two causes together accounted for one-third of all deaths.
Are there commonalities among these leading causes of death? I believe there are, and eight out of the top ten are related to it. I'm referring to high blood sugar. The eighth leading cause of death—diabetes—is undoubtedly a result of high blood sugar. Why are the other seven causes linked to high blood sugar? That's what I'm here to discuss today. I hope this episode will inspire you and encourage you to pay more attention to the importance of blood sugar management in health and longevity.
