the things a cartoonishly unhinged freelance artist with too much free time on her hands is willing to do for her favorite characters.... that's a year's worth of my time, emotions and tears of frustration but HEY! it's HERE!!
i've actually wanted to do a special volume for them as soon as i finished vol 1, but i figured it'd be too early to pull off that little metaphorical backflip. so i waited and composed some of these simultaneously along with my other volumes. track 3 has already been used in its early beta form on this channel as bgm!
there were times where i almost didn't release this. fear of it being too niche even by touhou standards, "oh god i don't think everyone cares about these twins as much as i do i think it'll be the weakest one of my discography by virtue of me liking unpopular things" were some thoughts i had after countless sleepless nights i drank way too many energy drinks (to my 24 cans of godzilla energy III minus one version: i will REMEMBER YOU and what you've done to my metabolism.) i wanted this to spread joy but as time went on i started becoming almost insecure in my (almost motherly?) affection i have for these two, i was wondering if my passion project of trying to breathe life back into them was a waste of everyone's time with the later months. i'll say it: i almost scrapped the whole thing more than once.
but something kept me going. i know that every year i have those characters that act as my muses of inspiration and my little reminders to keep going, but this year more than any other i had a lot of memories linked with these two. hell! the premiere for this was TWO HOURS before my flight for Tokyo to attend my first Reitaisai AS gengetsu, and the kicker is i did try to aim for a summer release but it's as if fate put obstacles in my path until this very moment. idk what to make of this tbh but if that's not a sign idk what is. the truth is out there??? "Gengetsu tries to slap me out of my sad emo moment and yells at me to remember who i am": the movie.(/j)
so yea i would normally say things like "oh with this many arranges of these two's themes i think i'll never rearrange them again" but knowing the kind of silly stunts my future self can pull i think i'll refrain on saying that because future nocti can and will turn this into a lie.
