This is a Magnavox 1ST626A date code 46th week of 1962. Have had to EOL so many over the years, mostly from poor storage. Also, there was much smoke & nicotine around over those years. It was nice to see one in original smoke-free condition. Basically other than the usual dirty controls that just need cleaning, the unit operates without any 60 cycle hum, or buzz, etc. The AM/FM tuner has the capability for stereo, however it is not. Concentrated on the Magnavox, aka Collaro-style changer. The owner said the usual: "It just needs a needle". This is a video on what to expect (at the least), with a similar unit. has all it's original tubes, 6V6 stereo in Push-Pull driving 10-inch woofers, with 5-inch mid/high frequency drivers. In conclusion, it seems the original changer has a hard idler, & a good cartridge. The donor changer seems to have a nice smooth idler, but the cartridge is suspect. Actually, I believe BOTH cartridges have seen better days, & should be replaced with a new modern ones. The fact that a "flip-over" replacement stylus was available made it interesting, however these cartridges are both fatigued. The tale of two changers. The original stylus was found inside while vacuuming out. It was missing the cantilever, but proved it was fitted with it's correct replacement. One can see the Magnavox's of this era like Zeniths, and others, were well built, & that quality shows throughout it's manufacture. Folks got something nice in return for their hard earned dollar.
