In this video: Steamrail Victoria operated the Warrnambool Westcoaster from Melbourne to Warrnambool, with locomotives A² 986 and R761. This trip was named the "Westcoaster”, in memory of the identically named weekly service which ran under “West Coast Railway” after the company ceased operations on August 31st, 2004.
This is the first time in 70 years that a Victorian Railways A² Class Steam Locomotive returned to Warrnambool. It was also the first time in 3 years that the Westcoaster returned to Warrnambool after being postponed, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
