In February 2024, I attended an extraordinary Yi ethnic wedding in the Daliang and Xiaoliang Mountains, known as one of the "poorest regions in China." The wedding took place in a small village nestled on a mountainside in Mabian Yi Autonomous County, Sichuan. that completely shattered my previous perceptions of traditional Yi weddings.
