Street scenes are the most common subject one finds when UrbanSketching. In this video, I share my tips, tricks and experience on how to simplify a challenging scene, while maintaining a sense of depth, light and color.
I am a regular urban sketcher, actively involved with Urbansketchers Mumbai chapter. I love sketching outdoors using a line and wash watercolor technique. My technique relies upon identifying big shapes and gently building values.

Paper: Fabriano Studio Hot-Press Watercolor paper. 9" x 12"
Paints: 9 assorted artist grade watercolours
Brushes: 4,8,12 round Escoda Versatil, 1/2" flat
Pens: Sailor Fude fountain pen (Carbon Black ink), white glass pencil, white Gelly Roll pen, 0.2 Sakura fineliner
