Kyoto Distillery is Japan's first gin distillery.
Founders DAVID CROLL and NORIKO KAKUDA CROLL are the main characters this time.
The two continue to make special gin that can only be made in Kyoto.
Gin is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting and distilling grains such as barley and potatoes.
At the Kyoto Distillery, they create their own flavorings for their mellow, rice-based spirits.
The plants used for this fragrance are called botanicals, and 11 kinds of ingredients such as Japanese pepper, yuzu, and perilla are used.
They mainly use Kyoto products.
The bottle design is KARAKAMI's Shochikubai Karakusa.
It is a traditional pattern of Kyoto.
They asked KARAKAMI craftsman AKIHIKO TOTO for the design.
The two married in the 1980s while working in the financial industry in London.
After that, they moved to Tokyo and have been involved in the promotion of Scotch whiskey and importing various liquors.
Meanwhile, they set up a distillery in Kyoto because they wanted to make alcohol with their own hands.
In October 2016, they launched Japan's first craft gin "KINOBI" using ingredients rooted in the climate of Kyoto.
The two founders moved to Kyoto with their family and settled down to make gin.
The two cultures of European-born alcohol wrapped in the scent of Kyoto merge in the ancient capital.
We will introduce “Kyoto” through artists, craftsmen, traditional performing arts successors, chefs, etc. who are active in Kyoto.
