Fist off - a huge THANK YOU to my 278 subscribers. It is completely mental that almost 300 folks would be interested in my digressive ramblings.
Another thanks to the many folks that give me a thumbs up and especially those who comment. positive or (constructive) criticism is always appreciated! On with the Show!
**Allergy season in Atlanta has sprung! Sorry for all the sniffling and snorkling!***
With my semi-accidental purchase of a salvage title 2011 CoPart 5.0L Supercharged V8 L322, I had a unique opportunity to line up 3 Range Rovers from 3 different design eras and compare them.
One of the cool things about this convergence of steel and al-ewe-min-ee-um, is that they are all a half decade apart. You can see the design progression of Land Rover's Flagship.
Despite evidence to the contrary, I am not insane enough to have 5 Rovers on the drive, so I don't have the Original L322, which ran from 2002-2005.
My 2006 4.4L NA JAGV8 is a bit of a 'Franken-truck'. It is the first facelift and is a mish-mash of BMW and FoMoCo parts. This facelift was largely exterior.
The second facelift was hot on the heels of the first. Coming in the 2007 model year and running through 2009. It was largely an interior Facelift. The outside looks like my 2006, but the inside looks more like the 2010-2012. Luckily, I do not have a 2nd Facelift (at this time...).
The Copart 2011 is the 3rd and final facelift which saw external changes, changes in power plants, as well as some changes to the interior and electronics.
In 2008 TATA Motors out of India bought JLR from Ford and went back to the drawing board, producing a completely redesigned auto. Sitting next to the other 2 you can definitely tell that it is part of the family, with refinements that made it more luxury auto and less truck-like.
I will let you decide if that was a good move or not.
