With a history dating back more than 5,500 years, the ability to survive waves of conquerors from the ancient Greeks to the Soviet Union, and with a storied history of poets, scholars, military leaders, and its current nationalistic government, there is no shortage of Tajik pride in their country, culture, cuisine, music and traditions. I truly witnessed this first-hand and felt it more in Tajikistan than almost any other country I have visited. Thankfully I had Borbad, an amazing guide and friend, who made this journey not just informative and exciting but personally and unforgettable!
