My start date for my thru hike of the Appalachian Trail is very quickly approaching! Today I wanted to do something a little different and write a letter to my future self. I’ve found that our words hold a lot of power, and I want to have something I can look back on when I’m stuck in a rut or hard place on trail.
They say that long distance hiking is mostly a mental game. I’m hoping to train my mind just like I’m training my body before hitting the trail for 5-7 months.
I hope this letter inspires you to talk positively and with curiosity to your future self. And to my fellow AT class of 2025, pretend I’m reading this to you as well! Happy trails!
