Today we went to a beach in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh, Vietnam to clean up a section of the road leading to the beach, which had been covered with grass and trees for many years, encroaching on the walkway and blocking the view of vehicles. Sadly, when we were about to clean up, a man came out to stop us and told us not to clean the sidewalk here because it was under their management. I tried to persuade them and told them to clean it for free, but they insisted that we go somewhere else. They said that when they started the project, they would clean it themselves. I guess he was the security guard of these two abandoned projects for many years. People complained that this sidewalk had been abandoned for more than 10 years and had not been cleaned. Every time we went to the beach, it was like going into a very scary jungle. We went somewhere else to clean it up, but when we returned, we saw that they had hired 2 people to cut down large casuarina trees for firewood, while the other trees were still spreading out onto the road and had not been cut down. Seeing us return, the man who stopped us from cleaning this morning immediately rode his motorbike out to see, but just as we were leaving, he didn't say anything more.
