In this tutorial, I'll show an effective way on how to paint highly detailed, photo realistic fur in acrylics. In this Chihuahua painting, a very cute dog, the lighting and contrast is so important. Working in greyscale here, just with black and white paint, really enables us to focus on values rather than worrying about mixing loads of colours whilst also trying to layer to build depth within the fur. Just by taking out more paint colour choices, all of the processes become easier. This means we can learn more from the techniques we are using and then implement them into the colour based paintings. This is one of my favourite ways to work and it truly does improve our painting skills when aiming for that high level of photo realism for pet portraits or animal art. - - - - Pastel, Acrylic, Graphite & Tutorials: Patreon: www.patreon.com/zaratomsart Would you like to see what tutorials I have on Patreon?
