Roast Beef
Ingredients
* 3-5 pound boneless roast
* 1 pint canned tomatoes (stewed)
* 2 cups Coke soft drink - Do not use Diet Coke.
* 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
* ¼ cup Kitchen Bouquet
* 3 or 4 glugs Liquid Smoke
* 1 large onion sliced into rings
* 1 bay leaf
* 1 tablespoon salt
* 1 tablespoon chili-powder
* 1 teaspoon each of : thyme, basil, oregano, dry mustard, smoked paprika, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder
* 1 package dry onion soup mix
* 4-5 cut carrots
* 4-5 quartered potatoes
Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 225°F
2. Pour tomatoes and Coke around roast.
3. Put Kitchen Bouquet, Worcestershire, and Liquid Smoke over the roast.
4. Mix all the dry seasonings then sprinkle over the roast. Make sure a majority of the seasonings stick to the roast (this will provide a flavor blast when you eat it). Top roast with onion rings.
5. Cover and bake at 225°F for 8 hours. Add carrots and potatoes the last two hours of cooking. If you don’t cover it you will be eating boot leather…
