In the freezing blizzard, a stray mother dog was found by the roadside, wagging her tail and seemingly in need of help. The mother dog then led the man to her humble shelter, where he discovered that Changmao had recently given birth to eight puppies (later found to be nine). To help this stray dog family survive the bitter cold, the man made regular visits, providing food (including specially prepared nutritious meals, dog food, and warm soup), improving their shelter (adding warm padding, foam boxes, and quilts), and even helping Changmao with grooming and removing burdock seeds from her fur.
