Caithness is home to a large majority of the Brochs found in mainland Scotland. I travelled over the Sutherland/Caithness border to find a wee gem of a broch Allt a' bhurg Broch more commonly known as Ousdale Broch. This place is extremely exciting and well worth a visit if you are up in the area. After visiting many brochs already Ousdale really does spark your imagination as the size of the doorways and passages are made for some seriously wee folk! I'm not saying I believe in hobbits or dwarfs but this place doesn't add up like!
I also visited Carn Liath broch which is next to Dunrobin castle and is also a fantastic example of these 2000 year old buildings but i have to warn you that it was extremely busy when I was there as it is located next to the A9 and has NC500 signposts!
