Saturday April 26, 2008 marked the end of Vline's A classes running passenger trains from Frankston to Stony Point in South Eastern Melbourne with the service being replaced by sprinter rail cars the following day.
More than a decade later on August 26th, 2018 an A class and locomotive hauled passenger trains returned in Stony Point with A66 top & tailing with R707 on 707 Operations' Steam & Streamliner tour. The train ran to Berwick and return in the morning before a lunch break in the city prior to departure for Frankston and then Stony Point.
