Hydrangea (macrophylla), also called hydrangea or jasmine, is native to Japan. The kanji for hydrangea is ”紫陽花”. Hydrangea shall represent allegiance, gratitude, and sincerity toward others. Hydrangea’s symbolism of death is also followed in many cultures as it is considered to be the symbol of death and rebirth. In Japan, this flower has a historical tradition of apology and gratitude. It was brought to the United States of America around the late colonization period. Hydrangeas have been found in western Asian regions as well around the Himalayas and Japan.
