In this video we will discuss Type 3 (low noise/high output) Reel to Reel tapes. Low noise / high output tapes were another major innovation at the time they came on the market in the late 1960s, some of them with the newly developed back coating! We'll discuss all of the major brands and tape formulations including the Scotch 206/207, Sony SLH, BASF LH Series and other Low Noise tapes from TDK (Super Dynamic and Audua), Maxell (UD), and Fuji (FG). Type 3 (low noise/high output) tapes were manufactured from the late 1960s through the mid 2000s. This is part of a series on a new Reel to Reel tape classification system developed by Reel to Reel Warehouse to help users of tape recorders and reel to reel recording tapes better select the right tape for their machine and application.
