ACF to Hold Protest Dharna Against Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978

Itanagar, March 6, 2025: The Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) has intensified its long-standing democratic movement against the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978. As part of this movement, the ACF is organizing a protest dharna at NIIS Nyokum Group, Borum Village, today from 9 AM to 2 PM. The Act, which has been in place since 1978, has been a subject of controversy, with ACF and several civil rights groups alleging that it restricts religious freedom and is misused to target specific communities. The forum has been consistently demanding the repeal of the law, arguing that it contradicts the fundamental rights enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
