Adding Pond Dye and Water Column Clarifier to the backyard bass pond. I like to throw a packet of pond dye into the pond every month or so. The dye tints the water short term, and blocks sunlight from reaching deep into the pond. With a lack of sunlight into the pond, deeper water weed growth is inhibited. The liquid water column clarifier is a beneficial bacteria that fixes nitrogen in the pond water and binds phosphorous. Both products have worked well for me over the last year to help keep my pond water clearer. I use some small river rock gravel to add structure to the pond and give the small fish a place to hide.
