Addressing the GT Bicycles Situation
It has taken me a while to comment on GT bicycles shutting down (or going on pause.) I kept having people ask if I would address the situation so I thought it was finally time. I love the GT brand and hope that one day they will return to their former glory but for the time being it looks like they will go the way of some other brands that are owned by Pon.
I would like to add something since this was an unscripted video. When GT initially came by to talk up their new branding and company change they were pushing their 150 travel mountain bikes heavily. They did eventually ad the Zaskar FS that is 120 and more along the lines of something we could sell to an entry level FS customer. My big gripe was it was too little too late, it was still more expensive, and they only did the low tier model.
I would love to know what went down behind the scenes between Pon and GT. To go from February 2024 saying they are expanding the business and adding more employees to December of the same year shutting down is interesting to me.
